On November 25-26, 2020 the international practical seminar “Gamification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language” organized by the Department of International Cooperation of KazHLIU together with the Department of Foreign Languages of Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management was held for teachers of foreign languages of KazHLIU within the framework of multilingual education.
The moderator of the seminar was Marina Kovaleva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management, author of numerous articles on innovative methods of teaching foreign languages, head of programs of additional professional education in the direction of foreign language.
Knowing modern methods of teaching foreign languages significantly improves the quality of specialists’ training. Thus, the topic of our seminar is extremely topical in modern conditions of development of the Kazakhstan education system.
The following issues were discussed during the seminar:
– peculiarities of using games in teaching process as a method of teaching foreign languages to increase students’ motivation and cognitive activity;
– mastering additional technological and technical options of the Zoom platform to organize more effective teaching of foreign languages;
– development of practical skills in the selection and adaptation of material, as well as internet resources available to the public for the design of the educational process and independent work of students using distance learning technologies.
In the practical part of the seminar participants considered the main causes of the problems arising in the process of using games for teaching and also developed methodological recommendations to overcome these problems.
